Highly touted freshman guard Divine Bourrage departs the LSU Tigers.
The offseason work has begun for the LSU Tigers, who were eliminated from the NCAA tournament on Friday. Just a couple of days later, and Divine Bourrage is now the first player to enter the transfer portal, per On3's Talia Goodman.
Bourrage was a freshman this past season. She appeared in 24 games and averaged 2.1 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.7 assists per night on 9.9 minutes. Her career high is six points, which she logged three times.
While she didn't have a major impact on the team this year, she was an anticipated part of this team's future. She was a consensus top-15 player in the country coming out of high school in Davenport, Iowa.
This Tigers roster was an incomplete product, but it was incredibly strong in their guard depth. They had four players with more experience at the position, eating up most of the minutes, and then Bella Hines won more opportunities as a freshman.
One name that will certainly come up in her recruitment will be Gary Redus and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. He was a recruiting ace for the Tigers and will have a great relationship with Bourrage already in place.
It would be a surprise to see no one from this year's LSU team in New Jersey next season. Bourrage makes perfect sense as someone who would make the jump.
No matter where the guard ends up, she has the chance to end up as a top player in the sport. It would have been interesting to see what plans Kim Mulkey had for her, but that doesn't look like it'll come to fruition.
