The LSU Tigers have a potential historic agreement in place with tight end Dae’Quan Wright, who was just waived by the Cleveland Browns.

The LSU Tigers have been on the bleeding edge of the new landscape of NCAA eligibility in all sports, but could now make history with the latest addition to their 2026/2027 roster.Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Tigers have an agreement in place with tight end Dae’Quan Wright, who was just waived by the Cleveland Browns. If he clears waivers, he will attempt to join LSU. His agents Drew Rosenhaus and Kyle Lincoln will be trying to make history, as no player has played for an NFL and then gone back to college before.

Wright went un-drafted back in April and has had stints with both the Philadelphia Eagles and Browns since. He isn’t the only player who will attempt to make this move this offseason while the courts are tied up, but he is the first one to officially commit to a team. Doing it while actively going through the process of being released by an NFL team is a perfect example of the chaos going on in college football this offseason.

Whether right or wrong, it was an opening to make their team better, and the Tigers were going to take it. Now, they have fantastic depth heading towards their tight end room, which was already exciting this year.

Wright began his college career with the Virginia Tech Hokies, but spent the past two seasons with Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels. He had 39 catches for 635 yards and five touchdowns last season. Now, they are adding that to a room that already had Trey’Dez Green.

The 6-foot-4 target would be joining the team late, but condition obviously won’t be an issue and this is an offense he knows. They’ll be able to catch him up to speed by the time they’ll really need him.
