The LSU Tigers landed a commitment from five-star EDGE rusher KJ Green on Sunday.
The LSU Tigers lost a five-star EDGE rusher last week, but have already replaced him as they landed a commitment from another elite defensive end in KJ Green, the player announced on Sunday.
Green is the No. 8 overall player in the nation per the 247Sports rankings. He's also the No. 2 EDGE and the No. 2 player out of the state of Georgia. He's ranked 11 spots ahead of Jaiden Bryant, who flipped his commitment from the Tigers to the Miami Hurricanes just a few days ago.
The 6-foot-4, 230-pound pass rusher had an absurd 18 sacks in 2025 as a senior, when he won the 5-AAA Defensive Player of the Year. He is the type of star who could come in and contribute right away next season.
LSU hasn't had an elite pass rusher in a few years. Even last season with the great defense, Harold Perkins led the team with four sacks. The most productive true EDGE rushers were a few guys tied with two.
The Tigers invested heavily into the defensive line heading into 2026 with the top EDGE in the transfer portal in Princewill Umanmielen, former five-star Jordan Ross and top-end freshman Trenton Henderson. It would be a shock to see LSU not be able to generate sacks next season.
Now, Green gives them some more homegrown talent who could potentially be an answer at the position for a couple of years. A pass-rush duo of him and Henderson could be the best in the country, if they develop well.
