The LSU Tigers secured a crystal ball prediction for a five-star cornerback.

The LSU Tigers have already put the bowtie on top of the elite 2026 recruiting/transfer portal class, and have moved on to the 2027 cycle. Apparently, they are off to a hot start.

After visiting campus this past weekend, On3's Steve Wiltfong has logged a prediction for the Tigers to land five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson with a 60% confidence level.

The 247Sports composite rankings have Dobson as the No. 3 overall player in the class and the second-best cornerback. LSU isn't currently making a major push for either player ranked above him right now.

The North Carolina native has SEC size at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, and is a track athlete with blazing speed. He could contribute right away if he had to, but the good news is that he won't.

By the time Dobson gets to campus, LSU will still have its current five-star talent in DJ Pickett. PJ Woodland, Michael Turner and Ja'Keem Jackson will also still have eligibility. That is, barring anyone declaring for the NFL draft early, with the only threat being Woodland.

It's important to remember that it is super early in the cycle. Even if LSU were to get a commitment from the cornerback soon, it wouldn't mean that they will sign him, but it is a good sign that things are going smoothly on the recruiting trail.

Everyone knows Kiffin as the "Portal King,"  but high school recruiting hasn't been is strongest suit. One of the big reasons to go to the Tigers in the first place was to be able to have the brand and resources to fix that. Landing Dobson would be a major feather in his cap.

It doesn't hurt to have one of the best defensive back recruiters in the history of the sport in the building with Corey Raymond. Derek Stingley Jr., DJ Pickett, Tre'Davious White and Grant Delpit are just some of the names that Raymond has secured in the past.
