The college basketball world is less than a week away from the official Selection Sunday for the NCAA tournament, and the LSU Tigers seem in line for some good news.
ESPN's Charlie Creme has spent all season updating the Women's Bracketology, giving one of the best looks at the potential field come the start of the tournament.
With just the Ivy League championship remaining, this was the last major update before the bracket gets set. In it, the Tigers remained the same seed they had been for more of the year - a No. 2.
This would be the highest seeding for a Kim Mulkey team at LSU. They have been a three-seed every single year of her tenure. It is ironic that this would be their best seed, as it certainly isn't the team that is viewed the highest on paper.
The Tigers are certainly a fringe two-seed, and it wouldn't be too shocking to see the selection committee end up dropping them. They were 8-5 against Quad 1 teams, but were undefeated against 2, 3 or 4 teams.
LSU is oozing with talent. They have established stars, emerging role players, elite freshmen and more. Still, they have suffered some bad losses to good teams.
Offensively, the Tigers have done a great job of sharing the ball this season. They have eight players averaging at least 8.5 points a game. They had the best scoring numbers in the country at 94.5, with second place at 88.7.
It is time for their stars to act like stars, though. Flau'jae Johnson is an experienced competitor in March. She has already won a championship. Mikaylah Williams is a pure scorer with the potential to become one of the best players in the country.
They did not show up in the SEC semifinal. The two combined for 20 points in the loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks. Williams didn't look too hot against them the first time, either.
Now is the chance for them to take over. They don't need to change too much. This has been Mulkey's best offense by far, but limiting the mistakes would go a long way to making it even better.
If this bracket were to end up correct, the Tigers would host the Navy Midshipmen in the first round. Then, it would be up to the winners of that game and the winner between the Washington Huskies and Colorado Buffaloes.
