The LSU Tigers target elite 2027 cornerback Joshua Dobson, a top-ranked recruit with game-ready size and speed. This weekend's visit could shape the future of the Tigers' secondary.

The LSU Tigers and Lane Kiffin have put together an excellent 2026 recruiting class, but there is no time to sit back and celebrate as the 2027 class is already a major focus.

Kiffin's staff will welcome a very important recruit this weekend as Hough (NC) cornerback Joshua Dobson is set to visit campus, per Steve Wiltfong of Rivals.

The Tigers are expected to be a major player in Dobson's recruitment, as he would probably be the crown jewel of next year's class.

The 247Sports composite rankings have Dobson as the No. 3 overall player in the class and the second-best cornerback. LSU isn't currently making a major push for either player ranked above him right now.

Not only does the North Carolina native already hold college football-ready size at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, but he is also a track athlete with great speed. He would be a plug-and-play contributor on Blake Baker's defense and an elite talent for Corey Raymond to mold.

Most of the focus these days falls on the transfer portal, but high school recruiting is still massively important. Making sure the secondary is locked and loaded with talent is also a major goal.

The Tigers have been able to maintain their impressive, young depth at cornerback. By the time Dobson gets to campus, LSU will still have their current five-star talent in DJ Pickett. PJ Woodland, Michael Turner and Ja'Keem Jackson will also still have eligibility.

The best-case scenario would be similar to what Pickett saw as a freshman. He had plenty of playing time and impressed, but will now step into a starting role as a sophomore.

This is absolutely a recruitment that Tigers fans should keep a close eye on.
