New LSU Tigers head coach Lane Kiffin has been working nonstop since arriving in Baton Rouge to fill out his first roster at the school. Wednesday's National Signing Day put a lid on this class of newcomers, which now has a whopping sixty players.
Kiffin brought in 43 transfer portal signees and 17 high school signees, with the latest being Archbishop Shaw safety Jackson Williams. Williams had already committed, but announced his decision to remain with the Tigers at his school on Wednesday morning.
The Marrero native was ranked as the No. 1,449 player in the nation, No. 136 safety and No. 39 player in Louisiana per the 247Sports rankings. While this may not be as big a splash signing as LSU has seen this offseason, it should be a great depth addition and way to round out that room.
Williams also carried offers from the Tulane Green Wave, Florida State Seminoles and Washington State Cougars. He was a two-sport star, also playing basketball in high school.
This is the full safety room that the Tigers will go into next year with:
Dashawn Spears - returning player
Tamarcus Cooley - returning player
Ty Benefield - Boise State Broncos transfer
Treylan James - Southern Jaguars transfer
Faheem Delane - Ohio State Buckeyes transfer
Mason Dossett - Baylor Bears transfer
Jhase Thomas - returning player
CJ Jimcoiley - returning player
Aiden Hall - incoming four-star freshman
Isaiah Washington - incoming three-star freshman
Jackson Williams - incoming three-star freshman
Losing AJ Haulcy to the NFL draft is going to hurt, but this room might be even better this year than it was a season ago.
Spears made plays every time he stepped onto the field, so him getting more snaps should be fun. Cooley had 70 tackles and two interceptions last season. Benefield is one of the biggest hitters in the sport. Delane was once a top-100 player coming out of high school.
