Good news for LSU Tigers fans on Friday as quarterback Sam Leavitt is off the injury report.
In news that will seemingly not shock anybody, LSU Tigers quarterback Sam Leavitt has been taken off the injury report ahead of Saturday's game against the Ole Miss Rebels.
There was doubt that he would miss the game even when he was listed as "doubtful" on the initial report. He was upgraded to questionable on Thursday. Now that he is off it, it seems almost certain that he will suit up in Oxford.
While the Tigers are comfortable with their backup options, having Leavitt is obviously a win. This offense is made for him and his playstyle.
So far, LSU has seen all of the ups and downs that Leavitt has to offer. He has five rushing touchdowns in two games, with four interceptions. His reckless play style as a runner really would not have been a surprise if he were banged up and had to miss the matchup.
Whatever Leavitt is going through, the Tigers are going to need him on his A-game if they want to pull off the win. It's going to be harder to pull off a victory against the Rebels with four first half turnovers than it was the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.
Leavitt isn't the only injury that the school has been going through, though. Linebacker TJ Dottery, like Leavitt, started the week off as doubtful and has since been upgraded to questionable. The room would be fine without him, but he's been one of the best at the position.
Dottery has 14 tackles with one for a loss so far this season. Given that he's listed as questionable, it would be a surprise if he doesn't play. He spent three years at Ole Miss, breaking out with 98 tackles and 5.5 for a loss before following Kiffin to Baton Rouge. There will be a lot of noise from the fanbase about him specifically during that game.
Listed as probable is linebacker Tylen Singleton, linebacker Davhon Keys and offensive lineman Aliou Bah. Bah is the most important as the starting right guard. It sounds like all three will be good to go, though.
Wide receiver Phillip Wright III, linebacker Jaiden Braker and running back Raycine Guillory Jr. have all been listed as out. Wright is the biggest loss there, and even he has only really seen the field in blowouts. He has a bright future in this offense thanks to his speed.
