Two great pieces of recruiting news for the LSU Tigers and Will Wade.

There has been endless talk about how the LSU Tigers and Will Wade have approached roster building for the first season, but the hope is that they'll be able to put the focus back on top high school talent as they find their footing.

They are on their way to that, as basketball recruiting service On3 recently shared a couple of big pieces of news about the Tigers. The first was that LSU is now favored to land four-star 2027 combo guard King Gibson with an 85% prediction level, thanks to an update from Jamie Shaw.

Gibson would be a massive first concrete addition to the class, given that Ahmad Hudson may or may not end up playing basketball (he should). Finding the star guard of the future will be crucial, as the Tigers have a bunch of veterans leading the group for 2026. Austin Nunez and Divine Ugochukwu could return, but Wade needs more options.

The 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard visited LSU at the end of September and narrowed his commitment down to the following schools just a few days later: the Tigers, the Arkansas Razorbacks, the Louisville Cardinals and the Providence Friars. Being in a recruiting battle with John Calipari for a guard is usually a good sign.

Gibson is a high-effort guard with a ton of athleticism waiting to be unleashed. He is certainly someone who could end up being a one-and-done/first-round pick in 2028, which LSU hasn't had in quite some time.

The next most important thing after figuring out the guard of the future is who is going to lock down the front court, and the Tigers are going to meet a more option very soon.

Bamba Touray, the No. 2 overall player in the 2028 recruiting class, is set for his own visit this weekend, per Joe Tipton. He is a seven-footer who would be the biggest get that LSU has had since Ben Simmons a few years back.

LSU has made it clear that they want to be elite in every major sport. Football, Baseball and Women's Basketball have all won recently. Men's Basketball is lagging behind. They were on the way during Wade's first tenure, but everyone knows how that ended. With elite talent coming to town, they seem prepared to compete with the rest of the SEC for top players. King Gibson trending towards Baton Rouge is a great sign.
