MiLaysia Fulwiley's Career Night Leads LSU Tigers To Comeback Win Over Ole Miss cover image

MiLaysia Fulwiley ignited a furious second-half rally, overcoming an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit to secure a dramatic victory for the LSU Tigers over the Ole Miss Rebels.

Well, it looked like it was about to be a massively disappointing night for the LSU Tigers Women's Basketball team, but a huge second half from MiLaysia Fulwiley led a 78-70 comeback win over the Ole Miss Rebels.

The Tigers will improve to 23-4 on the season and 9-4 in conference play. This win moved them into sole possession of fourth place in the SEC.

This was a career game for Fulwiley. She finished with 26 points, which sets a new career high. The only game that might have been bigger for her was probably when she dropped 24 to eliminate LSU from the 2024 SEC tournament.

In this game, she added six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and three steals. A whopping 22 of her points came in the second half, which Mulkey injected her into the starting lineup for.

If not for her, the Tigers would have lost this game. She was one of the driving forces of their second-half comeback, both on offense and defense.

LSU was down by as many 11 points in the fourth quarter, 13 points overall, but stormed back with dominant performances on both ends of the court.

The Rebels shot an unbelievable 0-for-17 in the final frame. Their only points came from seven made free throws. The Tigers outscored Ole Miss 24-7 in that final 10 minutes.

Flau'jae Johnson also had a stellar night with 18 points, five rebounds and three assists. She was 6-of-11 from the field and 2-for-3 from deep. LSU was +16 in her minutes, which shows how impactful she was, despite fouling out.

It was almost a terrible night for her after she had to limp to the locker room after rolling her ankle. It didn't cost her too much time, though, and she came back and showed that it wasn't slowing her down with a nine-point second half.

On a less positive note, one of the reasons that the Rebels were able to build up a lead was the lights-out shooting from Tianna Thompson and Cotie McMahon, who combined for 6-of-10 from deep.

That's two games in a row where a pair of shooters put a lot of pressure on the Tigers' defense to adjust. They've been able to do so both times, but it could be something to watch the rest of this year, as they'll need to find what is allowing these players to get hot in the first place.

LSU has three games remaining, with the next on Saturday afternoon against the Missouri Tigers.
