Mouhamed Dioubate chooses the LSU Tigers, kickstarting the Will Wade era. The highly-touted forward brings scoring and rebounding prowess to the Tigers.
The LSU Tigers finally have their first commitment of the Will Wade era, as Kentucky Wildcats forward Mouhamed Dioubate joined the program on Monday night, per On3's Joe Tipton.
Fans have long been waiting for Wade to land a transfer, as the roster had dwindled to zero players in the past couple of weeks since the portal opened. Patience had been asked for, and this is a good first commit to ease some fans' worries.
Obviously, there is still a lot of work to be done on the roster, but this is a great jumping-off point.
Dioubate was a four-star recruit, just outside of the top 100, coming out of high school when he committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide. He was a coveted player with high potential. He still has never really had a starring role, but he showed some growth this past season off the bench for the Wildcats.
The 6-foot-7 scorer averaged 8.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, with an assist, a steal and a block this past season on 54.2/21.4/65.2 splits. Given that he's the only player on this roster, it's fair to assume that he's going to have a much bigger role in the LSU offense, along with being a valued weapon on defense.
The Tigers are still going to need to find an offensive engine, someone to handle the ball and help create shots. Now that there is someone on the roster, it'll also make recruiting other players a bit easier for the new group in Baton Rouge.
