A rare occurrence this season, a positive injury report for the LSU Tigers ahead of their matchup with the Kentucky Wildcats.

The LSU Tigers return to SEC play this weekend against the Kentucky Wildcats, which means another week of official injury reports to prepare for the week.

While the first couple of weeks of reports brought chaos and some disappointing news, this is a pretty chill week for the Tigers (less so for the Wildcats). Here are the initial reports put out by the conference:

No news is good news for LSU. They have five players ruled out, but all were expected to be out. There was nothing unexpected here. It is good to see the cornerback depth improving, with Ja'Keem Jackson off the report entirely.

This was the goal for the game against the McNeese St. Cowboys from Saturday. Allow their players to get healthy and avoid anything major from further impacting the team. Three start players and two exciting young depth pieces are enough.

Kentucky Wildcats Injury Report

Out

LB Antwan Smith
LB Alex Afari Jr.
LB Tavion Wallace
DB Jaden Smith
DB Grant Grayton

Questionable

RB Jordan Colbert
LS Cole Marszalek
DL Kalen Edwards

Probable

WR DJ Miller

It is a long list for Kentucky this week, but nothing completely detrimental. They do have five players already listed out, the same as the Tigers, but only one was a Week 1 starter. Their depth has been completely wiped out, which could always come into play as well.

The best news for the Wildcats comes in the fact that running back Jason Patterson and defensive back Aaron Gates are not on the report.

Patterson has been a key piece of their offense and left the game early against the South Carolina Gamecocks, so he was uncertain for this one. It looks like he'll be fully healthy.

Gates is a high-potential player who has dealt with injuries that have hampered him throughout most of his career. He missed last week, but is their starting slot corner when healthy. That's an important role against this Lane Kiffin offense.

Edwards is one to watch as he has been a large part of the defensive interior rotation and did pick up half a sack against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Miller coming back could be big. He was a four-star in last year's class, had a breakout game as a freshman, but wasn't a consistent part of the offense. He had zero catches through two weeks, but had five catches for 96 yards against the Texas A&M Aggies.
