Veteran head coaches Johnny Jones and Rick Stansbury bolster Will Wade's LSU Tigers staff, bringing years of SEC experience to Baton Rouge.

Will Wade is back with the LSU Tigers and is busy putting together an All-Star staff, consisting of a couple of former head coaches with SEC experience. One of which, Tigers fans will have a lot of experience with.

Glenn Guilbeau of TigerRag.com reported Monday that Wade would be adding both Johnny Jones and Rick Stansbury to the Tigers' coaching staff.

Jones coming back to Baton Rouge is another full-circle moment in this odd offseason for LSU basketball. He is a DeRidder native, played and graduated from the school, and then served as head coach from 2012 to 2017.

The coach finished with a 90-72 record during his tenure with the Tigers. When he was fired, it was Wade that the school replaced him with. Now, they will work together.

Since being let go by LSU, Jones has been the head coach of the Texas Southern Tigers. He went 133-125 there with a couple of NCAA tournament berths, but the program had been moving in the wrong direction. Now he gets a chance to take a step back at a bigger school.

He's not the only former SEC head coach being added, either, as Stansbury was the Mississippi State Bulldogs' head coach from 1998 to 2012. He went 441-225 as a head coach, which showcases his experience and a strong history of winning.

His teams never went far in the tournament, but he's more than qualified to act as an assistant on this staff. Like with Jones, this is an exciting addition to the team.
