The LSU Tigers are preparing for their toughest matchup of the season in the Ole Miss Rebels.
Both teams are sitting at 4-0 with SEC contention in their sights. One has been led by their stellar offense and one has been led by their stout defense. Which will stutter first?
These are a couple of standouts for Rebels that could end up making trouble for the Tigers:
Chambliss came out of nowhere as the backup for Ole Miss and has been stellar. He's completed 67.7% of his passes for 719 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions through really just two games.
He also has 195 rushing yards and two touchdowns, which could be the biggest hurdle to pass for this defense. LSU really hasn't had to face a quarterback like that this season and it killed them a year ago.
Alexander isn't the leading receiver for the Rebels this season, but he has been the top option since Chambliss took over the offense. He had eight catches for 164 yards and a touchdown in the past two games.
He is a former track star that has elite speed that the Tigers haven't faced since going against Barion Brown in practice. It'll be an interesting test for a secondary that has been stellar this year.
The younger brother of Carolina Panthers linebacker Princely Umanmielen, Princewill has been one of the more disruptive pass rushers that the Rebels have had this year. Pro Football Focus has him credited with 12 pressures, tied for the team lead.
Umanmielen has 10 tackles with three for a loss and a sack. There have been more productive Ole Miss defenders this season, but he could break out against an LSU offensive line that has left plenty to be desired so far.
Lacy has been another breakout star early this season. He spent last year with the Missouri Tigers as a freshman, but wasn't able to really make an impact.
Through four games this year, he has been a bell cow. He has an SEC-leading 79 rushes for 358 yards and an SEC-leading seven touchdowns so far. He's fast, elusive, can catch the ball and is a threat to break one every time he touches the ball.
The Texas native hasn't been as efficient over the last couple of weeks, so maybe a stout Tigers defense can slow him down as well.
