The LSU Tigers weren't able to win a championship of their own this season, but at least one of their former stars is going to be receiving a ring as they have players on both squads in Sunday's Super Bowl matchup between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks.
WR Kayshon Boutte
One of the best stories in football right now is Boutte moving past the rough end to his college career and (now dropped) gambling charges last year to become a real NFL wide receiver.
He was viewed as the next great receiver to come from the Tigers program at one point, but never progressed past the highs of his freshman campaign. He played in just 17 games over his final two years and had just over 500 yards in each season.
His draft stock had plummeted, but Boutte was ready to leave college, so he declared for the draft anyway. He went in the sixth round to New England.
The 23-year-old isn't a star on the team yet, but he has flashes. He had 33 catches for 551 yards and six touchdowns this season. In the playoffs, he has eight catches for 147 yards and a score.
LT Will Campbell
A great rookie campaign for Campbell as he stepped in from the No. 4 overall pick to anchor the left side of the line from Day 1 for the Super Bowl-bound Patriots, protecting Drake Maye.
It hasn't been a perfect season for him or anything, but it has been about as good as one could ask for. That won't come as a surprise to anyone who talked to or watched Campbell play in Baton Rouge.
DE K'Lavon Chaisson
Chaisson is another great story, as his career has been revitalized with the Patriots. He was the 20th overall pick in the 2020 draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars after the historic 2019 LSU campaign.
The Texas native had five sacks over four seasons with the Jaguars. It always felt like he had more in the tank, though. The Las Vegas Raiders brought him on to their practice squad last year, and he ended up with five sacks.
The Patriots then gave him a one-year deal before this season, and he has looked like a new player. He logged 7.5 sacks with 10 TFLs and led the team in pressures. He has been dominant in the playoffs this year with 11 tackles and three sacks with a pass broken up.
On the roster, but not likely to appear: DE Bradyn Swinson, DT Jaquelin Roy
RG Anthony Bradford
Bradford was a fourth-round selection back in 2023 and began starting very early in his career. He hasn't been the cleanest offensive lineman in history, but he is incredibly strong.
He'll have a tough task ahead of him on Sunday as the Patriots have an elite defensive interior. He does have stretches of great games, so perhaps he can dig down and put together a crucial performance in protecting Sam Darnold.
