Where Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels rank among the best college quarterbacks since 2000.

The LSU Tigers were not always known as a hotspot for quarterbacks. In fact, it felt like the one position that the school could never get right.

Now, the Tigers are a place that is expected to see elite play from that position. It certainly helps to have two players who are considered among the best to ever play the sport within the last decade.

ESPN's Bill Connelly recently compiled a list of the 100 best college quarterbacks since 2000. Jayden Daniels was the first former LSU star mentioned at No. 20 overall, with Joe Burrow higher on the list at No. 5.

This is what Connelly had to say about Burrow:

"After a decent first season as LSU's starter, Burrow simply unleashed the best passing season we've ever seen in college football...  His 2019 was good enough to stand up next to Cam Newton's 2010. There is no greater compliment than that."

In order, Tim Tebow, Vince Young, Newton and Baker Mayfield were the players listed above Burrow. That seems to be the only real five considered to be the best since 2000. The order of those five changes from person to person.

Burrow's 2019 campaign was truly absurd. The numbers do show dominance, but even then, it feels like not enough to show how much better than everyone else the Tigers were that year.

The Heisman winner completed 76.3% of his passes for 5,671 yards, 60 touchdowns and six interceptions.

He has gone on to show that it wasn't a fluke in the NFL. He's battled injuries and is on a mess of a team, but no one can deny that he is a great quarterback when he is on the field.

Most of the school's offensive records belong to that 2019 team. The rest are likely held by Daniels' 2023 squad. That was one of the most productive units ever, but the defense fumbled that season away.

At No. 20, Daniels is above Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, Tua Tagovailoa and Caleb Wilson. Andrew Luck and Jameis Winston are just ahead of him.

Daniels' Heisman year saw him complete 72.2% of his passes for 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns to four interceptions. He added 1,134 yards and 10 more scores on the ground.

Having both of these players has made a major impact on LSU. They will be remembered very fondly in Baton Rouge for their times in purple and gold.
