Vanderbilt exposed LSU's vulnerabilities. Discover which key starters faltered, earning the lowest marks in their disappointing loss.
The LSU Tigers lost their second game of the season this past weekend against the Vanderbilt Commodores in what was a fairly demoralizing performance.
From coaches to players, it was a day to forget for almost everybody for the Tigers. That means it will be a tough report card day.
The lowest grades would indeed be handed out to the coaching staff, but Pro Football Focus also hands out grades for the players after each game on a 0-100 scale.
Here were the lowest-graded players for LSU from this past weekend:
TE Bauer Sharp - 40.2
Sharp has been a solid addition from the Oklahoma Sooners this season, especially with the time missed by Trey'Dez Green. He is a more traditional tight end, who can block and be more of possession catch guy.
Sharp has been relegated to more of a blocker since Green came back. He was not targeted in this one and allowed two pressures in pass protection. He was also called for a hold on a crucial
LB Harold Perkins - 41.4
With Whit Weeks out due to injury, Perkins was going to be even more important than usual in this game. Instead, he became a target for the Commodores all day long. He was beat on the outside by the running consistently and struggled in coverage.
He was targeted six times, allowing five catches for 37 yards and a touchdown. He had just one pressure as a rusher and missed a tackle. When the Tigers needed a vintage Perkins game, they got one of his weakest since coming to LSU. He fell victim to a strong gameplan from Vanderbilt, mostly, and there wasn't any response from the Tigers to address it.
WR Nic Anderson - 46.4
Anderson was a highly anticipated transfer, who just hasn't worked out yet. Some rust was to be expected, given that he missed all of last year due to injury, but things have not improved over the course of the season.
It was a rough day for the former Sooner, who was targeted twice and ended with one catch for no gain. That gives him two catches for two yards over the last two weeks.
S Tamarcus Cooley - 53.0
After having his best game of the season last week against the South Carolina Gamecocks, Cooley had his worst-graded performance yet. The Commodores chose to attack the safeties and linebackers more than the corners, and it worked out well for them.
Cooley was targeted four times, giving up three catches for 43 yards. He also picked up a missed tackle, which led to more yards after the catch. He was alright in the run game, but had a tough day in coverage.
