Damian Ramos has gone from learning how to kick by watching YouTube and launching balls into his basement wall to having the chance to own the LSU Tigers' kicking record books.
Ramos came to the Tigers as a five-star kicker out of Baltimore, Maryland back in 2021. He didn't play his first year, as it was the final season of Cade York, but has been the starting kicker for the past four years.
While Ramos might not have the biggest leg, he has been incredible at extra points and fairly reliable at knocking down field goals.
That consistency has led him to taking over the top spot for a couple of major LSU career kicking records, with the chance to nab one more if the offense is able to find a groove over these last couple of games.
The senior has the most field goals in school history with 65, taking over David Browndyke's previous record of 61. The Tigers' inconsistent red zone offense has actually helped him to an SEC-leading 24 field goal attempts with 20 makes this season.
Ramos also owns the career lead for points scored by kicking with 390. The previous holder was Colt David with 363.
With three games left in his time at LSU, Ramos can also grab the lead for most extra points made from David. The current record is 201, which means he is six short at 195. That means that the Tigers need to score at least six more touchdowns against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, Oklahoma Sooners and whoever their bowl game opponent may be.
While the offense hasn't been as high-powered as it has been in recent years, that should certainly be doable.
Of any of these records, the extra-point mark would probably be the most fitting for Ramos to hold. He's lights out at those attempts and has had an interesting journey with them.
His college career started with a heart-breaking miss against the Florida State Seminoles back in 2022, after Jayden Daniels and the offense rallied back at the end of the game. Ramos would only miss three more for his entire career.
Back in 2023, the Heisman season for Daniels, Ramos went a whopping 77 of 77 on extra points. He also holds the record for most consecutive PATs made at 129 over a three-year span.
He has had an interesting career and has certainly earned his place all over the LSU history books.
