Memphis baseball bounced back from a Friday night loss with a four-run win over UAB on Saturday. Similar to game one of the series, Memphis trailed late, but it rallied over the final three innings to record a win and set up a rubber match on Sunday.
The Tigers' bats were working early, and they scored three runs in the first inning. After holding the Blazers to a scoreless first inning, David Case, who made his 11th start of the season, gave up six runs in the second and third innings, but he was able to settle down and made it through six innings.
Memphis trailed by one run and loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh inning. Javon Hernandez stepped up to the plate and hit a fly ball to the center fielder, but the center fielder dropped the routine fly ball, scoring a pair of runs.
The error gave the Tigers a spark, and they tacked on two more runs before the end of the inning.
Memphis scored four runs in the final two innings to secure a 13-9 win over the Blazers, who entered the day at the top of the conference standings. With the win, Matt Riser's team improves to 16-25 and 8-9 in conference play.
