Mario Cristobal and UM's staff secured a national top-three ranking by flipping elite prospects from USC and Georgia, stocking the Miami Hurricanes' roster with powerhouse talents.
MIAMI, Fla. – Following the latest commitment of four-star wide receiver Eli Woodard, the Miami Hurricanes’ 2027 recruiting class remains the third-highest ranked nationally on 247Sports Composite and On3. Despite having fewer players than other programs – Oklahoma, Florida, Texas, and Oregon – the group’s talent speaks loudly.
Coach Mario Cristobal, Football Executive Dennis Smith, and the rest of the staff have assembled one of the best recruiting classes in recent program history. According to 247Sports Composite, they have four five-stars and six top-100 ranked prospects. In the midst of the group’s construction, the Hurricanes flipped four recruits: Donte Wright from Georgia, Jaiden Bryant from LSU, Ai’King Hall from Oregon, and Woodard from USC.
Rivals declared the University of Miami summer recruiting winners, alongside six other programs: Oregon, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Auburn, and Texas. The site projects the Hurricanes to finish “high” come winter.
The domino effect first started with Wright. The top-10 prospect and cornerback decommitted, then flipped from the Bulldogs to “The U” on May 9. Attending Long Beach Polytechnic High School, the five-star logged 25 total tackles, two sacks, and 3.5 tackles for loss in seven games as a junior.
Shortly after, Hall – fellow cornerback and top-100 prospect – followed the trend.
However, the Hurricanes hit a grand slam after successfully luring Bryant away from Lane Kiffin on June 3. The five-star edge rusher joins a program that’s taken pride in dominating the trenches. Bryant logged 75 total tackles, 41 solos and 35 assists, 16 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, and a 25-yard interception in 13 games as a junior at Irmo High School.
Woodard joined as the latest flip. After decommitting from the Trojans on May 29, he chose the Hurricanes a month later, over Cal and UCLA.
After all the transactions, the program has three top-ranked recruits from three different states: Wright (California), Israel Abrams (Illinois), and Bryant (South Carolina), according to 247Sports Composite.
The Hurricanes are established National Championship contenders ahead of the upcoming season. A highly-touted recruiting class set to join only brightens the future of football on the Coral Gables campus. Despite not being able to practice with the roster, they will have opportunities to learn by watching from close distance.
Given the 2027 recruiting class’ near completion, it allows the program to work ahead for 2028. They’ve already earned a couple of commitments from quarterback Knox Annis and offensive tackle Kweli Fielder.
