By flipping elite out-of-state prospects and locking down top-tier ACC commits, Mario Cristobal is building a national powerhouse fueled by a historically dominant 2027 recruiting class.
MIAMI, Fla. – Whether it’s 247Sports or On3, both can agree that the Miami Hurricanes’ 2027 recruiting class is among the nation’s best. After successfully flipping four elite out-of-state prospects while retaining household talents, the program’s future appears to be in great hands.
According to Rivals, seven of the Atlantic Coast Conference’s top commits are from “The U.” The list is highlighted by five-stars Donte Wright, Nick Lennear, and Jaiden Bryant. It finished with four-stars Ai’King Hall and Jatori Williams.
The only other commits mentioned outside of Miami are Clemson’s Jamarian Simmons, Virginia Tech’s Peter Bourque, and Cal’s Charles Davis.
This class could emerge as one of the best in program history. Flipping elite prospects, such as Wright and Bryant, from other powerhouse programs shows how drastic “The U’s” image has changed. Coming off as the National Champion runners-up, the program is displaying legitimate competitiveness in today’s college football landscape.
Another exciting prospect is quarterback Israel Abrams. The Hurricanes have relied on the transfer portal to find the offense’s orchestrator – Darian Mensah being the latest – but the Illinois native could be the first to snap the trend.

The Hurricanes have always been a nationwide brand, but taking over the high-school recruiting trail on this scale is significant for the future. It shows that Mario Cristobal, Football Executive Dennis Smith, and the rest of the staff can sell “The U” to prospects all over the country.
Given today’s college football world with NIL and the transfer portal, it’s difficult for any program to establish continuity. Securing elite high-school prospects is best for long-term success. There’s already a sense of familiarity, especially with the coaching staff.
If the rising core remains intact, the Hurricanes could win several ACC titles. Although bigger goals are set in place, dominating the conference – similarly to Clemson and FSU – puts the program in contention for a National Championship.
Nearly every commit from the 2027 class have cancelled future official visits and shut down recruitments. The Hurricanes won’t have to worry about another program luring them away.
It’s a new chapter of football around the Coral Gables campus and the future only appears brighter.
