Former Miami Hurricanes player Rueben Bain Jr., had a recent sit-down with the NFL Network
Former Miami Hurricanes defensive lineman Rueben Bain Jr., is moving closer to becoming a multi-millionaire.
He's spent the past few auditioning for NFL teams because he is expected to be a high pick in next month's draft. Bain recently spoke about it with Cameron Wolfe of the NFL Network.
He said his ability to impact the game in multiple phases as the best part of his game.
"My versatility," Bain said. "Most people didn't know I could just drop in coverage and move around like that. Any thing I'm asked, I feel like I'm a versatile player. That's what I showed, just knowing that I'm at a new weight, new body type, new style. I'm just the same player."
Bain said he has dropped his weight down to 265, with hopes of improving that versatility. Last season he played a huge role in the Hurricanes advancing to the College Football Playoff title game. UM fell just short, losing to the Indiana Hoosiers.
But Bain said this is the ideal playing weight for him.
"I feel like that's the playing weight for me," Bain said. "I feel real good here. I feel explosive. I feel strong, quicker and faster, feeling like my old self. I'm feeling very, very agile and lean and loose, where I can be the best version of myself."
The only question mark surrounding Bain are his dimensions. He stands just 6-foot-2 but scouts refuse to ignore his talent.
“Mike Tyson wasn’t the tallest," Bain said. "He wasn’t the longest. But when you felt him, you felt him. You kept your distance.”
Bain is considered a sure-fire Top 10 pick based on most projections. One of the teams with a high pick are the Tennessee Titans. If they choose Bain at No. 4, he would join former UM teammates quarterback Cam Ward and defensive lineman Jeffrey Simmons.
"First, anywhere I go is a blessing," Bain said. "It's a lifelong dream come true for me. To play with Cam again and Jeffrey Simmons and those caliber guys, it would be nothing short of a blessing ... I wanna win wherever go."
