Five-star Monshun Sales schedules official visits, including a key summer stop with the Miami Hurricanes, aiming to impress this elite recruit.
The Miami Hurricanes have secured multiple official visits with highly-talented high school recruits, with Monshun Sales being the latest. It was reported on Monday that the five-star recruit will take a walk around campus and the facilities during the summer, on June 19.
Sales is currently ranked 10th nationally, second among wide receivers, and first in the state of Indiana, according to 247SportsComposite. He's attending Lawrence North High School, a public institution in Marion County. The five-star has displayed great versatility, playing on both sides of the field, plus on special teams.
The current high school junior has caught 71 passes for 1,362 yards, 19.2 yards per catch, scoring 16 touchdowns in 25 games throughout two seasons. As a safety, Sales recorded 67 total tackles, 35 solos and 32 assists, a tackle for loss, a quarterback hurry, and three fumble recoveries.
Also, he returned six kicks for 48 yards.
The Hurricanes aren't the only program Sales will officially visit, as the Indiana Hoosiers, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Alabama Crimson Tide secured dates. It's a race that could go down to the very finish.
The reigning National Champion Hoosiers will be the first to host Sales in the late spring, on April 29. Coach Curt Cignatti, who reportedly signed a contract extension, completely turned around the image of one of the most disappointing programs in college football. Sales grew up approximately 52 miles away from campus. It would make a homegrown hero story for him to commit to the Hoosiers.
Followed by a visit with the Alabama Crimson Tide on May 29. The program is still reshaping itself after the departure of college football icon and former coach Nick Saban. The team suffered a 28-7 loss in the SEC Championship game against the Georgia Bulldogs, then made the College Football Playoffs, but fell in the Rose Bowl quarterfinal against the Hoosiers.
Finally, before visiting the Hurricanes, Sales will visit the Buckeyes shortly before summer, on June 12. The program finished with two top-10 Heisman Trophy candidates in quarterback Julian Sayin and wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. Despite falling short of earning back-to-back National Championships, the program retained most of its talent, looking to remain competitive.
The Hurricanes will need to make the official visit count in an attempt to secure a commitment from the five-star recruit. Sales' final stop will be in South Florida, which allows the program to make a strong final impression.
