Adding All-SEC talent, the Miami Hurricanes secure explosive defensive edge Damon Wilson II. He's ready to disrupt offenses and bolster their championship aspirations.

The Miami Hurricanes continue to storm through the transfer portal shortly after falling short of winning a National Championship. Several players have decided to depart, with Girard Pringle Jr. being the latest, but fresh talent is arriving.

It was reported on Thursday that defensive edge Damon Wilson II is transferring to the Hurricanes. He's coming off an excellent season with the Missouri Tigers, playing in 13 games, recording 23 total tackles, nine solos and 14 assists, 9.5 tackles for loss, nine sacks, and one interception.

Wilson II was a four-star recruit coming out of Venice High School, recording 269 total tackles, 157 solos and 112 assists, 37 tackles for loss, 31 sacks, four passes defended, and one interception in 44 total games. He received offers and interest from multiple powerhouse programs, including the Alabama Crimson Tide, Ohio State Buckeyes, Florida Gators, and Hurricanes, before committing to the Georgia Bulldogs on Dec. 22, 2022.

The Florida native was teammates with quarterback Carson Beck in his first two seasons with the back-to-back National Championship-winning program. He played 26 games, recording 26 total tackles, 14 solos and 12 assists, six tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles with the Bulldogs before transferring to the Tigers.

The 20-year-old earned All-SEC Second Team honors this season, but the team finished with an 8-5 overall record, eighth in the conference standings.

Wilson II has a path to being a full-time starter with the Hurricanes, especially as edge rushing star duo Akheem Mesidor and Rueben Bain Jr. are very likely to declare for the NFL draft. He's listed at 6-4, 240 pounds, and has a great first step.

One of the reasons for the Hurricanes' recent success was the resilience of the defensive line, disrupting quarterbacks and causing havoc. Mesidor and Bain Jr. were the stars, but Wilson II will line up alongside Amad Moten Sr., Justin Scott, Marquise Lightfoot, Armondo Blount, and Hayden Lowe.

Hurricanes defensive line coach Jason Taylor, once again, has a tremendous amount of talent to work with and develop. Also, adding veteran and College Football Playoff experience.

Wilson II was part of the 2024 Bulldogs team that reached the Allstate Sugar Bowl following a first-round bye, but lost to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, with a final score of 23-10. He recorded two tackles, both were solos.

The Hurricanes' current front seven could find great success next season, possibly among the best in the nation.
