Miami Hurricanes receiver Malachi Toney is training with NFL star this summer

Miami Hurricanes receiver Malachi Toney will be one of the most watch players in college football this season.

Toney is set to begin his sophomore season after putting together an epic year as a freshman. No one is more excited about his progression than Roundtable Sports contributor Rudy Rodriguez-Chomat, who hosts the "Hurricanes Unfiltered" podcast.

"I can't wait to see Malachi Toney on the football field in the fall," Rodriguez-Chomat said. "I tell you right now that I'm excited about seeing Malachi Toney back on the football field with a year of experience under his belt, a spring under his belt. After putting up the most iconic freshman season in Miami Hurricanes football history, getting a chance to see how he actually gets better. I can't wait."

The reason for the excitement is what Toney is doing in the offseason. A video recently surfaced of him working out with NFL superstar Jaxon Smith-Njigba of the Seattle Seahawks.

Smith-Njigba helped lead the Seahawks to a Super Bowl title last season. He is considered one of the best at his position in the NFL. The same can be said about Toney, who caught a nation-best 109 passes for 1,211 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Toney was a key component in helping the Hurricanes advance to the College Football Playoff title game, where they lost to the Indiana Hoosiers at Hard Rock Stadium.

His productivity is only expected to improve this season with more experience and his body continuing the develop in the weight room. Some are already putting Toney among the best receivers in UM history, a list that includes NFL Hall of Famers Andre Johnson and Michael Irvin.

"The opportunities that you get when you are the player of the caliber of Malachi Toney as a freshman," Rodriguez-Chomat said. "Getting a chance to work out with a guy like JSN, All-Pro, big-time NFL football player. But what makes Malachi Toney that special dude is that he wants that type of coaching. He's working out with him and I'm gonna tell you right now, he looks yolked. He wasn't this big when he got here."
