Texas playmaker Tre Moore eyes Coral Gables as the Miami Hurricanes battle Ohio State and Washington for the prolific deep threat’s commitment following a dominant three-season high school stretch.

Miami, FL. – The Miami Hurricanes added a significant talent to the 2027 recruiting class in four-star defensive lineman Ezekiel Ayangbile on Friday. However, there is another opportunity to add another Texas prospect to the group. Tre Moore is a four-star wide receiver who currently attends Weiss High School, a public institution located in Travis County. He caught 124 passes for 2,008 yards, scoring 26 touchdowns in 25 total games over three seasons.

It was reported that Moore is down to three programs: Ohio State Buckeyes, Washington Huskies, and Hurricanes. He will take an official visit with each of them throughout the summer. Moore is scheduled to travel down to the Coral Gables campus on Friday, May 29.

Moore is listed at 6-2, 185 pounds, and ranked 170th nationally, 25th among wide receivers, and 23rd in the state of Texas for the 2027 class, according to Rivals Industry Rankings. He received interest and scholarship offers from numerous programs, including the Florida Gators, Ole Miss Rebels, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oregon Ducks, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Wisconsin Badgers, Texas Longhorns, Texas A&M Aggies, Oklahoma Sooners, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Houston Cougars, Oklahoma State Cowboys, and North Texas Mean Green, among several others.

A similar case to Ayangbile, despite having multiple opportunities to play close to home, Moore is ready for a new chapter outside of “the Lone Star State.” Also, the Hurricanes sparked interest among numerous wide receiver recruits following homegrown star Malachi Toney’s historic freshman season. He caught a nation’s high 109 passes for 1,211 yards, scoring 13 total touchdowns, appearing in all 16 games, including 15 starts.

Moore is capable of playing all over the field, most notably on the right side wideout.

The Hurricanes currently have just one receiver for the 2027 class: Nick Lennear. They previously had two with Ah’Mari Stevens, who split ways from the group, flipping to the LSU Tigers. Adding a talent of Moore’s caliber would provide a boost for the Hurricanes’ future, especially in the passing game.

It’s likely the four-star prospect will make a final decision following all visits with the three finalists.

The Hurricanes already concluded all spring practices, including an exhibition game on April 18.

Coming off a National Championship appearance, the program looks to remain competitive in the long run. Landing promising high school recruits, such as Moore, is the recipe for stability, especially in today’s world of college football.

The Texas native will have an opportunity to see what coach Mario Cristobal is continuing to build, then make a decision from there.
