Building on a top-10 recruiting class, the Miami Hurricanes target a physical Georgia safety with elite speed to bolster a defensive unit.
Miami, FL. – The Miami Hurricanes’ 2027 recruiting class found a surge after securing four-star defensive lineman Ezekiel Ayangbile’s commitment and flipping five-star cornerback Donte Wright from the Georgia Bulldogs. The group is ranked within the top-10 in both 247Sports and On3. However, several recruits may still be looking to join, such as Jeremiah Proctor. He’s a three-star safety who currently attends Gainesville High School, a public institution located in Hall County, Georgia.
Proctor primarily plays as a strong safety and has shown strong instincts for making plays with the football. According to Hudl, he runs a 4.53 40-yard dash, benches 190 pounds, and runs an 11.4 100-meter dash. Proctor used to play on both sides of the field before becoming a full-time secondary player.
The recruit is listed at 6-3, 195 pounds, and ranked 598th nationally, 57th among safeties, and 70th in the state of Georgia for the 2027 class, according to 247Sports Composite. He has received interest and scholarship offers from numerous programs, including the South Florida Bulls, Louisville Cardinals, North Carolina State Wolfpack, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Virginia Tech Hokies, Wake Forest Demon Deacons, West Virginia Mountaineers, Charlotte 49ers, Kansas State Wildcats, Colorado Buffaloes, and BYU Cougars, along with a few others.
Given the long list, Proctor has cut it down to five: Pitt Panthers, Kentucky Wildcats, Tennessee Volunteers, Florida State Seminoles, and Hurricanes. He last made an unofficial visit to Coral Gables on Oct. 25, 2025. It was a game day, as the team took on the Stanford Cardinal at Hard Rock Stadium, and secured a 42-7 victory.
Proctor has official visits scheduled with three other finalists, along with the Mountaineers:
- West Virginia: May 29
- Florida State: June 5
- Pittsburgh: June 11
- Kentucky: June 19
The Hurricanes could look to join the list if it means securing a commitment. They currently have 11 players as part of the 2027 class, including five-star homegrown wide receiver Nick Lennear.
Proctor is likely to announce an official decision following the official visits this upcoming summer.
The Hurricanes are coming off a National Championship appearance with a scoring defense that ranked fifth in the Football Bowl Subdivision. They had four defenders selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, including a couple from the secondary in cornerback Keionte Scott and safety Jakobe Thomas.
There isn’t a clear leader in Proctor’s recruitment, but that will likely change in the upcoming months, especially after the official visits take place.
