Rising star Malachi Toney leads a stacked roster as the Miami Hurricanes dominate the virtual gridiron, boasting elite ratings for impact playmakers following a historic postseason run.
MIAMI, Fla. – In the world of sports, one of the most controversial topics is video game player ratings. In some cases, it’s too high or too low – hardly ever satisfying for everyone. Ahead of July 9th’s full release, EA Sports College Football 27 ratings came out.
Among the Miami Hurricanes’ roster, rising star Malachi Toney topped at 96 – the fifth-best overall player and second among wide receivers. He finished behind Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith with a 99 rating. Toney is one of college football’s most prolific stars coming off a historic freshman season. The local Liberty City native led the nation with 109 catches for 1,211 yards, scoring 13 total touchdowns.
Whether it was receiving, rushing, returning, or passing, Toney made an impact. Right behind him is local star running back Mark Fletcher Jr. with a 93 rating – third among the position. The Fort Lauderdale native left a remarkable impact throughout the Hurricanes’ College Football Playoff run. He rushed 75 times for a record-breaking 507 yards, scoring three total touchdowns against Texas A&M, Ohio State, Ole Miss, and Indiana.
Along the elite is defensive tackle Ahmad Moten Sr. with a 91 rating – sixth among the position. He’s coming off a career season as a full-time starter: 31 total tackles, 20 solos and 11 assists, nine tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks in 14 games. Without edge rushers Akeem Mesidor and All-American Rueben Bain Jr. hogging all the attention, Moten Sr. will have a chance to shine in the spotlight.
The 22-year-old has gained early first-round projections ahead of the 2027 NFL Draft. He will be looking to cement himself throughout the upcoming season.
Alongside Moten Sr., with a 91 rating, is quarterback Darian Mensah – seventh among the position. The 21-year-old transferred to “The U” following an All-Atlantic Coast Conference caliber season with the Duke Blue Devils. He completed 334 of 500 passes, 66.8 percent, throwing for 3,973 yards and 34 touchdowns, including six interceptions.
Mensah delivered the program its first ACC Championship in football since 1989. He’s looking to deliver a similar impact, plus more, with the Hurricanes this upcoming season. Alongside Mensah came wide receiver Cooper Barkate – who had the most targets on the Blue Devils.
The 23-year-old arrives in Coral Gables with a 90 rating – 10th among the position. Barkate finished shortly behind Toney with 1,106 receiving yards on 72 catches, scoring seven touchdowns. The established chemistry and success with Mensah is looking to translate, despite wearing a new uniform and having completely new teammates.
The Hurricanes should be fun to play with in EA Sports College Football 27, releasing next week.
