Mario Cristobal looks to poach elite Ohio State commit DJ Jacobs as the five-star edge rusher brings a massive stat line to Coral Gables this September.
MIAMI, Fla. – The Miami Hurricanes are reportedly hosting elite recruit DJ Jacobs on a game-day visit on Sept. 26 against Central Michigan, according to CanesInSight.
The five-star edge rusher is currently committed to Ohio State, but a flip shouldn’t be ruled out. Jacobs pledged on Dec. 29, 2025, and he could’ve shut down his recruitment, but didn’t, which means business is still open. The Hurricanes flipped three other highly-touted recruits (five-star cornerback Donte Wright, five-star edge rusher Jaiden Bryant, and four-star cornerback Ai’King Hall) in the process of building the 2027 class.
Another one could be on the way.
Jacobs currently attends Blessed Trinity Catholic High School, a private institution located in Roswell, Georgia. In two games to start his senior year, he’s logged 16 total tackles, 10 solos and six assists, two tackles for loss, and four sacks, according to MaxPreps. Jacobs has the resume of being a physical specimen. In three full seasons combined, he’s logged 292 total tackles, 156 solos and 136 assists, 67 tackles for loss, and 31 sacks.
According to 247Sports Composite, Jacobs is ranked third nationally, the best edge rusher, and second in Georgia among the 2027 high school graduating class. He’s received scholarship offers from Alabama, Clemson, LSU, Oregon, Texas, and Notre Dame, plus several others.
The Hurricanes will have an opportunity to change Jacobs’ mind and pledge with on-field production. A major factor could be how the edge rushers play. Marquise Lightfoot, Damon Wilson II, and Armondo Blount are expected to fill the voids left by Akheem Mesidor and All-American Rueben Bain Jr. for the NFL.
Each edge rusher is coached and developed directly under defensive line coach and Pro Football Hall of Famer Jason Taylor.
If Mesidor and Bain Jr.’s success weren’t enough to convince Jacobs, different faces producing similar results could get the job done. He will likely have the best seats at Hard Rock Stadium. Jacobs will be joined by four-star defensive tackle Dawson Jacobs (brother). He’s part of the 2028 high school graduating recruiting class.
Jacobs is listed at 6-5 and 240 pounds and is expected to wreak havoc entering the Power Four college football level.
