Alabama’s top-ranked 2027 prospect Ai’King Hall shuns the West Coast for Coral Gables, bolstering the Miami Hurricanes' secondary with elite speed and pushing the program's recruiting class into the national top ten.

Miami, FL. – The Miami Hurricanes’ 2027 recruiting class continues to progress among the best in the nation. After flipping a highly-ranked cornerback in Donte Wright from Georgia nearly two weeks ago, another decided to join the party in Ai’King Hall. He’s a four-star cornerback who originally committed to Oregon before flipping to the University of Miami.

Hall currently attends Dothan High School, a public co-educational institution located in Houston County, Alabama. He plays as a cornerback and kick returner, making multiple trips to the end zone at both positions. Hall is known to possess great speed, capable of redirecting and staying attached in coverage, and steps on the field with aggression.

The four-star recruit is listed at 6-1, 195 pounds, and ranked 74th nationally, 11th among cornerbacks, and the best player from the state of Alabama for the 2027 class, according to Rivals Industry Rankings. He has received interest and scholarship offers from numerous programs, including the Florida Gators, Ole Miss Rebels, Texas Longhorns, Clemson Tigers, Auburn Tigers, Texas A&M Aggies, Ohio State Buckeyes, Georgia Bulldogs, Louisville Cardinals, and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, among others.

Hall originally committed to the Oregon Ducks on April 6, primarily recruited by co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach Chris Hampton. He made an unofficial visit around the Portland campus on April 3. After a month under commitment, Hall decided to stay closer to the Southeast Region instead of moving to the West Coast.

The top-100 prospect was primarily recruited by newly-named cornerbacks coach Terry Jefferson on behalf of the Hurricanes. He previously served as an assistant defensive backs/nickel coach. Jefferson played a significant role in former Hurricanes cornerback Keionte Scott’s All-ACC caliber season, and getting selected as a fourth-rounder in the 2026 NFL Draft.

The Coral Gables program boosted to the sixth-best 2027 recruiting class following Hall’s flip. They are up to 12 hard commits, including four top-100 prospects.

Despite missing out on local five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews to Texas A&M, the Hurricanes remain with significant momentum on the high-school recruiting trail.

Hall, alongside Wright, will develop under defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman’s defense.

Coming off a National Championship appearance, the Hurricanes went from having one of the worst scoring defenses to the fifth-best in the Football Bowl Subdivision. Recruiting and developing high-caliber talent is key to maintaining stability, identity, and success.

The program adding Hall and Wright to the program will bring a significant boost to the team’s secondary.
