Fresh off a split from USC, dynamic playmaker Eli Woodard is firmly in the Miami Hurricanes' sights, looking to bolster an elite 2027 recruiting class.

Miami, FL. – The Miami Hurricanes continue to gain momentum on the high-school recruiting trail. After flipping four-star cornerback Ai’King Hall and securing three-star local edge rusher Jayvon Dawson’s commitment, the program is trending towards one of the nation’s best 2027 groups. There are still plenty of recruits available on the open market, but one has recently rejoined.

It was reported on Tuesday morning that four-star wide receiver Eli Woodard decommitted from the University of Southern California. After three months of pledging to the Trojans program, the highly-touted prospect is looking for a new home. However, it may be found across the country.

According to On3’s University of Miami recruiting insider, EJ Holland, the Hurricanes are making a push for Woodard. He currently attends Chaparral High School, a public institution located in Riverside County, California. As a junior, Woodard logged snaps on both sides of the field.

Defensively, he played at cornerback, recording 32 total tackles, 19 solos and 13 assists, seven passes defended, and grabbed a 64-yard interception, according to MaxPreps. On the other side of the field, as a wide receiver, Woodard caught 51 passes for 1,070 yards, scoring 17 touchdowns in 12 games.

The four-star prospect is listed at 6-1, 185 pounds, and ranked 169th nationally, 25th among wide receivers, and 16th in the state of California for the 2027 class, according to Rivals Industry Rankings. He received offers and interest from other programs, including the Oregon Ducks, Missouri Tigers, and Michigan Wolverines, among a few others. Despite originally taking an opportunity to play close to home, Woodard appears ready for a different chapter.

The Hurricanes currently have 13 hard commits, including a couple of five-stars in cornerback Donte Wright and local wide receiver Nick Lennear. The program is currently given a 65.8 percent chance of landing Woodard’s next commitment, according to Rivals’ recruiting prediction machine.

The California native has yet to make an official or unofficial visit to the Coral Gables campus or facility. A trip down to South Florida could play a significant role in Woodard’s reopened recruitment.

Coming off a National Championship appearance, the Hurricanes are building off the latest success, translating into the future.

Woodard could be intrigued by the opportunity to develop under wide receivers coach Kevin Beard, especially after Malachi Toney’s electrifying and historic freshman season.

Despite missing out on local five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews, the program managed to find a new surge on the high-school recruiting trail.
