Ex-Miami Hurricanes defensive lineman Rueben Bain is starting to drop on some NFL mock draft
A few weeks ago, ex-Miami Hurricanes defensive star Rueben Bain Jr., was considered a lock to go in the Top 10 of the first round of next month's NFL Draft.
Now, there are some concerns about Bain's phyisical attributes translating to the next level. According to an article by CBS Sports, Bain could have some critics in the NFL coaches and general managers circle. It's latest mock draft even had him falling out of the Top 10.
The network had Bain going at No. 12 to the Dallas Cowboys.
Here's what the article wrote about Bain: "The Cowboys get lucky as 11 NFL teams overthink Miami All-American edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr.'s lack of arm length (30⅞ inches). Bain stood out at his pro day during position drills, something Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer, defensive coordinator Christian Parker and vice president of player personnel Will McClay all watched up close. Dallas lands a young edge rusher who can grow alongside Donovan Ezeiruaku and Rashan Gary."
Bain is listed at 6-foot-2 and 263 pounds (he recently said his comfortable playing weight is 265). In an interview with Cameron Wolfe of the NFL Network, Bain shot back at those who are worrying about his dimensions.
He knows he is a good football player who helped lead the Hurricanes to within one victory of the national championship.
“Mike Tyson wasn’t the tallest," Bain said to Wolfe. "He wasn’t the longest. But when you felt him, you felt him. You kept your distance.”
The Hurricanes could have up to three players selected in the first round. Bain is joined by offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa and defensive lineman Akheem Mesidor. While Bain and Mauigoa are considered first-round locks, Mesidor could sneak his way in.
The `Canes also have defensive back Keionte Scott, who has worked his way up the charts after impressive performances at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis last month and UM's Pro Day earlier this week. Scott could go high as the second round or even higher because he's impressed so many the past couple of weeks.
