Arkansas running back Jeremiah Dent's visit could sway his decision, but can the Miami Hurricanes lure him from his home state?
As the revamped roster continues to build chemistry, the Miami Hurricanes are scheduling and hosting official and unofficial visits with several prospects, including Jeremiah Dent. He’s a three-star running back who currently attends Marion High School, a public institution located in Crittenden County, Arkansas. As a junior, Dent rushed 102 times for 1,057 yards, scoring 22 total touchdowns.
It was reported that the Arkansas native scheduled a spring visit with the Hurricanes on Tuesday, March 31.
Dent is listed at 6-0, 200 pounds, and ranked 1,051st nationally, 75th among running backs, and fourth in the state for the class of 2027, according to Rivals Industry Rankings. He received interest and offers from numerous programs, including the Ole Miss Rebels, Auburn Tigers, Cincinnati Bearcats, North Carolina State Wolfpack, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Purdue Boilermakers, SMU Mustangs, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, South Florida Bulls, and Sacramento State Hornets, along with others.
Last season, the Hurricanes made it an emphasis to establish the run game. Despite an offseason with several new players, including All-ACC quarterback Darian Mensah, the program managed to retain its core of homegrown star Mark Fletcher Jr., CharMar Brown, Girard Pringle Jr., and Jordan Lyle.
Dent took several unofficial visits with the Rebels, Tigers, and Oklahoma Sooners. A trip around the Coral Gables campus and facilities could impact his recruiting process. Also, the three-star prospect has upcoming official visits scheduled with the Razorbacks, North Carolina Tar Heels, and Tigers after the spring semester.
Part of what makes the Hurricanes intriguing for several recruits is how they develop and compete in practice. Coming off a National Championship, the program establishes a new winning culture and standard.
The team’s success in the College Football Playoffs partially came from Fletcher Jr.’s historic performance. He rushed 75 times for a record-breaking 507 yards, scoring three total touchdowns in four Bowl games.
However, the biggest challenge for the Hurricanes in Dent’s recruitment is to lure him away from home. The Arkansas native has an opportunity to play for his hometown program in the Razorbacks. However, they went 2-10 overall last season, 0-8 in SEC play.
As the Hurricanes look to remain in contention status, it has caught the attention of several prospects, including Dent. However, he will likely take up all visits scheduled and evaluate all options moving forward.
More programs could pick up on the young running back. However, the Hurricanes will already be established in the sweepstakes.
