International defensive talent Marvin Nguetsop gears up for a Miami Hurricanes visit, eyeing development under Jason Taylor's guidance and a program's rising success.

The Miami Hurricanes aren’t only attracting the attention of high school recruits across the nation, but from abroad as well. It was reported on Wednesday, March 18, that three-star edge rusher Marvin Nguetsop has scheduled a spring visit with the program on Tuesday, March 24, as part of a group of international talents. He was born in Germany; meanwhile, his family is from Cameroon.

Nguetsop currently attends St. Thomas More, a college preparatory boarding institution located in Oakdale, Connecticut. He’s listed at 6-7, 275 pounds, and ranked 400th nationally, 40th among edge rushers, and second in the state for the class of 2027, according to Rivals Industry Rankings. The German native has received interest and offers from numerous programs, including the Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, Michigan Wolverines, Kansas State Wildcats, Virginia Tech Hokies, Syracuse Orange, and many others.

The three-star recruit has made several unofficial visits, including a couple with the South Carolina Gamecocks, Georgia Bulldogs, and Ohio State Buckeyes, plus an official visit scheduled with the Ole Miss Rebels on June 19.

Despite the unique length and size, Nguetsop still has plenty of room to grow. He’s capable of getting past defenders, but not in a way that would work at the collegiate level. Nguetsop needs to improve his bending and quickness, plus use more power to overcome opposing offensive linemen.

The Hurricanes have the track record of developing defensive players, especially as of late, with edge rushers Rueben Bain Jr. and Akheem Mesidor. Last season, they combined for 117 total tackles, 68 solos and 49 assists, 33 tackles for loss, and 22 sacks. Bain Jr. was named an All-American, ACC Defensive Player of the Year, and the Ted Hendricks Award winner.

As Nguetsop has an opportunity to walk around the Coral Gables campus, so does the chance to learn directly under defensive line coach and Pro Football Hall of Famer Jason Taylor. He played a critical role in Bain Jr. and Mesidor’s development, especially in their final season with the program. Both have declared for the upcoming NFL Draft and are projected to be first-round selections.

The three-star recruit was named an All-American and participated in the Navy All-American Bowl game. He was part of Team East, which secured a 17-14 win over Team West. Nguetsop played alongside a couple of Hurricanes commits, such as five-star wide receiver Nick Lennear and four-star defensive lineman Keshawn Stancil.

Coming off a National Championship, the program seeks to remain competitive in the long run, and securing talented high school players is part of the plan. Nguetsop could be a part of it, but a final decision will likely have to wait.
