The Miami Hurricanes bolster an elite 2027 class as versatile North Miami Beach standout Andre Hyppolite chooses the hometown program over heavyweights like Georgia and Notre Dame.
MIAMI, Fla. – In the last couple of weeks, the Miami Hurricanes had the second-highest-ranked 2027 recruiting class, according to 247Sports and On3. All 18 commits shut down their recruitments; meanwhile, it was reported last Thursday that the program would no longer pursue local five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson. He took an official visit around the Coral Gables campus and facility on May 29 and will commit on July 1.
The Hurricanes had seven in-state commits, but added another on Sunday night with four-star safety Andre Hyppolite. He chose the University of Miami over Florida, Georgia, Minnesota, and Notre Dame.
Hyppolite currently attends North Miami Beach Senior High School, a public magnet institution located in Miami-Dade County. In one season as a junior, he stacked 63 total tackles and five interceptions for 111 yards in 12 games, according to MaxPreps. He was a two-way threat, playing a few snaps offensively. Hyppolite recorded 584 all-purpose yards and scored four total touchdowns – all receiving.
The four-star safety is listed at 6-1, 180 pounds, and currently ranked 142nd nationally, 10th among the position, and 15th in the state of Florida for the 2027 class, according to 247Sports Composite. He received interest and scholarship offers from other programs, including the Florida State Seminoles, LSU Tigers, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Louisville Cardinals, Auburn Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Pitt Panthers, West Virginia Mountaineers, and Syracuse Orange, among others.
After Hyppolite’s commitment, the Hurricanes are up to 19 players as part of the 2027 group. They remain the second-highest-ranked in 247Sports Composite’s list.
Cornerbacks coach Terry Jefferson and secondary/defensive pass-game coordinator Will Harris primarily recruited the newest member. Both were promoted to higher positions on the staff in early May.
Hyppolite committed to the University of Miami shortly after an official visit around the Coral Gables campus and facility this past Friday. A week before, he was in Gainesville for an official visit with the Gators. Hyppolite has yet to shut down his recruitment. He’s scheduled to take official visits with Notre Dame tomorrow, followed by Georgia this upcoming Friday, June 19th.
Regardless, the Hurricanes are in the final stages of the 2027 recruiting process. The future continues to shine bright for the program, especially ahead of fall camp and the new regular season.
The recruiting process is a testament to how much coach Mario Cristobal and the staff have transformed the University of Miami’s image on the football field. As another opportunity to chase a National Championship approaches, the competitiveness is building for the long-term.
