Star playmakers dodge the injury list as the top-ranked Miami Hurricanes prepare for Pitt, offering a vital boost to a secondary bracing for a historic 7-0 start.
MIAMI, Fla. – The Atlantic Coast Conference released the initial injury report ahead of the No. 1 Miami Hurricanes hosting the Pitt Panthers for Saturday’s matchup at Hard Rock Stadium.
Despite getting banged up in last weekend’s 43-35 double-overtime win over the Florida State Seminoles, stars running back Mark Fletcher Jr. and cornerback/safety Bryce Fitzgerald weren’t listed. It’s a sign of relief, especially for the Hurricanes’ secondary, which is still relatively depleted.
In Monday’s media availability, head coach Mario Cristobal alluded to leaving the field “relatively clean,” and that's what happened. The Hurricanes have ruled out the usual six players:
- RB CharMar “Marty” Brown (Right Knee, Out for Season)
- WR Joshua Moore (Upper-Body, Out for Season)
- CB Ja’Boree Antoine (Undisclosed)
- RG Max Buchanan (Left Knee)
- CB Romanas “OJ” Frederique Jr. (Left Shoulder)
- TE Luka Gilbert (Undisclosed; Out for Season)
Freshman wide receiver Milan Parris is listed as doubtful with an undisclosed injury. He’s logged just 54 snaps in three out of five games this season. Parris was a four-star recruit from Walsh Jesuit High School, a private Catholic institution in Cuyahoga (OH).
The Hurricanes’ wide receiver rotation primarily consists of Malachi Toney, Cooper Barkate, Daylyn Upshaw, Vandrevius Jacobs, Somourian Wingo, and Vance Spafford.
As it relates to the offensive line, Seuseu “SJ” Alofaituli moved to right guard in place of Buchanan against the Seminoles. He finished with the highest Pro Football Focus grade (67.5) among the starters and second in pass protection (69.6), allowing just one quarterback hurry and pressure in 80 offensive snaps.
The Panthers are without sophomore quarterback Mason Heintschel, who suffered a torn right knee ACL against the Virginia Tech Hokies on Oct. 2. Fifth-year Holden Geriner started against UNC, then freshman Corey Dailey when facing Boston College, both resulting in losses. The following seven players from the Panthers have been ruled out:
TE Elijah Lagg, S Allen Bryant, DT Ben Kauffman, TE Max Hunt, S Isaac Patterson, WR Rodney Dunbar, and DE Trevor Sommers.
Meanwhile, cornerback Rashan Murray, running back Ja’Kyrian Turner, and safety Josh Guerrier are listed as questionable.
The Hurricanes look to go 7-0 for the first time since the 2024 college football season. They will honor the 2001 National Championship-winning team and Pro Football Hall of Famer Ed Reed will be sounding the Ibis siren shortly before kickoff. The game is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. E.T. and will be televised on ESPN.
