Miami Hurricanes' quarterback Carson Beck shares what is most important for the team moving forward after suffering a different loss against the SMU Mustangs.

The Miami Hurricanes have now lost two games in the last three weeks in heartbreaking fashion. On Oct. 17th, they faced the Louisville Cardinals on their home turf and what should've been a dominant victory resulted in an upsetting loss. However, the Hurricanes were in range to win the game, down three on the final drive, until quarterback Carson Beck threw an interception, ruining the potential comeback. The final score was 24-21.

Beck had four interceptions against Louisville, but still had a chance to lead the Hurricanes to victory. However, the one at the very end was the most painful.

They bounced back the following week against the Stanford Cardinal, with a final score of 42-7. The Hurricanes appeared to have found their groove again. The run game was back on its dominant course, especially with running back Mark Fletcher Jr. finishing with 119 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

However, the Hurricanes would face another difficult challenge, taking on the SMU Mustangs in Dallas, Texas. It would be their second road game of the season, but the first outside the state of Florida.

There were tons of back and forth, but the Hurricanes had a chance to pull through with a win. After Mustangs' kicker Sam Keltner missed a field goal in the fourth quarter, the Hurricanes' chance at victory was in front of them.

However, a couple of penalties cost the team an opportunity to take a commanding lead. SMU tied the score, sending the game to overtime.

The Hurricanes were the first with possession and made it all the way down the field, but an interception towards the end zone was the final nail in the coffin. SMU scored right after, protected their field, and left with a strong victory. The final score was 26-20.

Another game in which a turnover sealed the fate of the team.

"It's tough," Beck said postgame. "To lose a game like that, in that fashion, it's hard."

It doesn't matter on what level, but the quarterback is often the main attraction, whether the team wins or loses. However, the Hurricanes' defeat against Louisville and SMU actually came from Beck's hands. He shared the message for the team moving forward.

"Just stay together," he said. "We can't separate. We have to do what we've said that we are the entire year. That's having connection. That's playing as a team. Staying in unity, regardless of what happens. That's all we can do. We learn from the mistakes of what happened in this game, just continue forward, and finish each week as hard as we can."

The Hurricanes will face the Syracuse Orange on Saturday at home. They have to win out the rest of their season; otherwise, the chances of competing for an ACC title and a spot in the College Football Playoffs are likely demolished.
