Will Michigan's high-powered offense, and new faces be too much for the Demon Deacons this year? Here are three bold predictions ahead of tomorrow nights contest.

Dusty May and his sixth-ranked Michigan Wolverines prepare for a rematch with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday, the stage is set for a high-stakes, early-season match up. A year after falling to Wake Forest 72-70, the Wolverines have revenge on their minds. The game comes with plenty of intrigue as Michigan fields a roster with several new faces and a head coach known for his aggressive, fast-paced offensive strategy. With the stage set and history on the line, here are three bold predictions for Tuesday's showdown in the Wolverine-Deacon Challenge.

1. Trey McKenney Explodes, but from Inside the Arc

Freshman guard Trey McKenney wasted no time establishing himself in his collegiate debut, matching a program record with six three-pointers against Oakland. His shooting prowess from deep has fans buzzing, but against a Wake Forest defense that thrives on forcing opponents to take contested outside shots, look for a different facet of McKenney's game to shine.

The Demon Deacons' interior defense, while disciplined, lacks the size to match Michigan's formidable frontcourt. This will open up lanes for McKenney to drive and attack the basket. My bold prediction is that McKenney will score more points from two-point field goals than from beyond the arc. He'll finish with more than 20 points, but his point total will be built on a series of aggressive drives, pull-up jumpers inside the three-point line, and trips to the free-throw line. This showcase of his offensive versatility will cement his status as more than just a shooter and serve as a crucial test against a quality opponent.

2. Turnovers Won’t Cost Michigan

A potential weakness for the Wolverines is their penchant for turnovers when playing at a high tempo. Last season's matchup with Wake Forest ended with a costly turnover by Roddy Gayle Jr. in the final minute, and the Demon Deacons excel at forcing mistakes. But with a seasoned transfer like Elliot Cadeau now running the point, the Wolverines have the veteran leadership to overcome this challenge.

Cadeau has already demonstrated his strong court vision and decision-making, recording 12 assists in the season opener. His ability to navigate pressure and control the pace will be essential against Wake Forest's aggressive defensive schemes. My bold prediction is that despite a fast pace and Wake Forest's pressure defense, Michigan will finish with fewer than 10 turnovers for the game. This disciplined offensive showing will prevent the Demon Deacons from capitalizing on Michigan's mistakes and will be a key factor in securing the Wolverine victory.

3. Michigan's Bench to Decide the Game with a Defensive Masterclass

Michigan's opening game highlighted the depth of Dusty May's bench, with a program-record seven players reaching double-digit scoring. However, against a physical, versatile Wake Forest team, the game's turning point won't be from scoring but from Michigan's bench asserting its will on the defensive end.

Wake Forest coach Steve Forbes has been working hard on his team's offensive rebounding, but they will be tested by Michigan's length and athleticism. My bold prediction is that Michigan's bench will outscore and hold Wake Forest's bench to single digits in the second half. Led by defensive-minded reserves, the Wolverines will suffocate Wake Forest's attempts to get easy baskets off second-chance opportunities and wear them down with relentless pressure. This defensive clinic from Michigan's second unit will flip the momentum of the game, stifle Wake Forest's physical style, and ultimately pave the way for a decisive win for the Wolverines in front of their neutral but home crowd at Little Caesars Arena.
