Mike Boynton Jr faces a high-stakes October showdown as the Wolverines battle Missouri and TCU for the dynamic La Lumiere playmaker to spearhead their future backcourt rotation.

The recruiting trail is heating up in Ann Arbor, and Michigan basketball finds itself right in the thick of a high profile battle. Four star combo guard Devin Cleveland has officially trimmed his list of suitors down to a final three. The Wolverines made the cut alongside Missouri and TCU as the coveted perimeter scorer prepares to make his college decision on October 16th.

Cleveland is widely regarded as one of the premier guard talents in the country. Ranked inside the top 30 nationally, the 6-3 guard currently showcases his skill set at La Lumiere School in Indiana after starting his prep journey as a standout in Chicago. Known for his dynamic bucket-getting ability and sharp court vision, Cleveland turned heads throughout the summer on the Nike EYBL circuit with Brad Beal Elite. His blend of positional length, deep shooting range, and crafty off-the-dribble playmaking makes him a perfect candidate to thrive in modern high-major college offenses.

Michigan getting into the final group comes right on the heels of a crucial in-person visit. Cleveland was on campus in Ann Arbor for an official visit, giving the coaching staff a perfect chance to roll out the red carpet. During the trip, he experienced the energy around the program firsthand, taking in Michigan's exhibition clash and getting an intimate look at the team culture, player development pitch, and tactical vision.

That impression clearly made an impact. Cleveland chose to trim powerhouse offers from programs like Alabama, Arkansas, Marquette, and Syracuse to focus on his top trio. Michigan now stands shoulder to shoulder with SEC contender Missouri and Big 12 foe TCU as the clock ticks down.
