COLUMBIA, Mo. — Missouri has hired its new offensive coordinator in former Michigan OC Chip Lindsey.
"We are excited to welcome Chip Lindsey to Mizzou to lead our offense," Head coach Eli Drinkwitz said. "He does a tremendous job of not only coaching and developing players but organizing and implementing the offense. He is an excellent offensive mind with wide range of experience from high school to offensive coordinator to college head coach. Chip is a tremendous addition to our coaching staff and someone who can seamlessly transition into the job."
Lindsey spent the 2025 season as Michigans OC, where he helped the Wolverines rush for 2,558 yards, the 15th-highest mark in the nation. Before that, he spent two seasons with North Carolina, where he played a key role in developing now-NFL MVP candidate Drake Maye and Chargers starting running back Omarion Hampton — Lindsey can get the most out of his players.
Combining Lindsey's success in developing players and in the ground game with Drinkwitz' elite rushing offense and quarterback prowess, and the duo amplifies each others' skills.
"I could not be happier to have the opportunity to work with Eli Drinkwitz in Columbia," Lindsey said. "What Coach Drinkwitz has done at Mizzou over that past six years is remarkable. You couple that with the commitment the University of Missouri has made to the football program, this is one of the most attractive coordinator jobs in the country. The commitment and infrastructure in place from an organizational standpoint and the talent on the field is truly exciting."
Lindsey is Missouri's second OC under Drinkwitz, taking over for Moore, who spent the last three seasons in the position before leaving to take a head coaching job at Washington State. Before his time at Michigan and UNC, Moore had stops as the OC for UCF, Auburn, Arizona State and Southern Miss, along with a head coaching stint at Troy.
He has plenty of experience in a top position, fitting the bill for a quality Drinkwitz cited as important to him in the search for a new OC.
"There's not a lot of first time play callers having a lot of success in this league," Drinkwitz said. "You gotta have some battle scars, you gotta have a level of toughness. You gotta have an understanding of who you are, what your identity is. And so for me, that's gonna be a priority in this thing...it's gonna be somebody who I feel like has been in the fire before and understands it."
There has been no statement regarding if Lindsey will join the team for the Gator Bowl on Dec. 27, but he'll be the OC in 2026 regardless.
