Mizzou football lands commitment from 2027 three-star safety Jabarri Lofton.

Mizzou football has landed the commitment of 2027 safety Jabarri Lofton, per Hayes Fawcett.

Lofton chose the Tigers over Power Four programs like Illinois, Kansas State, Purdue and more. He took a visit to Missouri Saturday during the team’s spring practice and has another visit scheduled for June 5-7.

The three-star defensive back is ranked the No. 91 safety in the nation and No. 32 player in Illinois, per Rivals’ industry ranking. He attended East St. Louis High School, the alma mater of former Tigers like Luther Burden III and Toriano Pride Jr.. Lofton also used to play quarterback for Hazelwood West High School.

Lofton joins three-star quarterback Braylen Warren as the first two and only commits in Mizzou’s 2027 recruiting class. Lofton is the first defensive commitment of the class, and was recruited by safeties coach Jacob Yoro.

He also joins a safety room loaded with new faces and young talent acquired both out of high school and through the transfer portal. The group is undergoing a youth movement, as former starters and high-quality players Daylan Carnell, Jalen Catalon and Marvin Burks Jr. departed from the program, either hitting the portal or exhausting their eligibility. Here’s how the room looks heading into the 2026 season.

Santana Banner, redshirt junior in 2026
Trajen Greco, junior
Kensley Louidor-Faustin, junior
Jackson Hancock, redshirt sophomore
CJ Bass III, redshirt freshman
JaDon Blair, redshirt freshman
Jayden McGregory, freshman
Carter Stewart, freshman

Lofton is a sizable prospect, standing at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds. He brings ball-hawking and physicality to a talented position group.

Many Missouri targets are beginning to take visits to spring practice in the coming weeks and months, so stay tuned for any potential commitments from the class of 2027. The Tigers are currently eying top prospects like Marshaun Ivy, Lawrence Britt, Myson Johnson-Cook and more.
