Fall camp is rolling along in Lincoln, and the Nebraska Cornhuskers opened a portion of Tuesday's practice to the media.

The practice was the sixth of the preseason for the Big Red and the second in full pads. Here is what was able to be seen during the roughly 20 minutes at the Hawks Championship Center and the outside practice fields.

Running backs coach E.J. Barthel is not afraid of sticking his nose into a drill to show how he wants a technique done. He did exactly that on Tuesday.

As for the running backs themselves, Isaiah Mozee was getting the number-one reps. Mehki Nelson was next, with freshman Jamal Rule third.

New addition Tikey Hayes isn't quite up to speed compared to the other running backs, but he was going through all the same drills. Even with the Nelson situation resolved, having him in Lincoln is a plus, and he didn't look out of place with the other backs.

Quarterback Anthony Colandrea called his offensive line "elite" in his latest media availability. While that descriptor still needs to be proven on the field, the group does look noticeably bigger and more athletic than previous units under Rhule.

That's due to a new O-Line coach and multiple transfers to the room, including Paul Mubenga and Brendan Black. Those two, plus returning starting center Justin Evans, give Nebraska a solid interior.

The questions will come on the outside. Elijah Pritchett still looks like he'll hold down the left tackle spot, but the right tackle could go to transfer Tree Babalade or Gunnar Gottula; the latter of that pair was praised by Rhule on Saturday.

Where the offensive side of the line looks bigger and more athletic, the defensive side comes off as meaner than it's been.

Jahsear Whittington is quick off the line. Owen Stoudmire also brings quickness to the interior. Dylan Berymon was widely looked at as a large human being, with his 350-pound frame looking every bit the part in person.

Move over defensive backs; the linebackers have the look and potential to be the top unit among the Blackshirts.

The additions of transfers Owen Chambliss and Dexter Foster to Vincent Shavers have this group with the build to compete (and succeed) in the Big Ten. Defensive Coordinator Rob Aurich spent the open segment working with this unit.
