For the second time in three years, Nebraska will play at the home of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Nebraska football will open the 2027 season in KC at Arrowhead Stadium against Miami (Ohio). The game is set for Aug. 27.
“Our fans and team enjoyed the game in Kansas City a year ago, and shortly after that contest we began having discussions with the Chiefs about returning to Arrowhead,” Nebraska Deputy AD/Chief Operating Officer Haven Fields said. “The 2027 schedule provided an opportunity to play a game in another great venue with Memorial Stadium at a reduced capacity, while maintaining seven games in Lincoln for our fans.”
The game was originally set for Sept. 11 in Lincoln, but the FBS Oversight Committee recently made changes to the playing calendar, allowing schools to start a week earlier. This will be the first-ever meeting between the Huskers and RedHawks, who have also agreed to an additional matchup to be played in Lincoln on Sept. 6, 2031.
Nebraska opened the 2025 season at Arrowhead against Cincinnati. That game was originally set to be a true road game before changing to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and then ending up in Kansas City. The Huskers won 20-17 in the first leg of a series that will wrap up in Lincoln in 2033.

That year, Nebraska beat Oklahoma State in a regular-season game 24-17. In 2006, the Huskers fell to Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship, 21-7.
The rest of Nebraska's 2027 schedule includes home non-conference games with Northern Illinois (Sept. 4) and Northern Iowa (Sept. 18). The home Big Ten Conference games will be against Iowa, Minnesota, Oregon, Purdue, and Rutgers. Road opponents include Northwestern, Ohio State, Washington, and Wisconsin.
A Big Ten game is expected on Sept. 11.
The 2027 season will be impacted by renovations to Memorial Stadium, primarily with South Stadium. Capacity will be roughly 20,000 lower than the current 86,500.
Ticket information for the Arrowhead game against Miami will be announced at a later date. The contest will not be part of Nebraska's seven-game season ticket package for 2027.
