For the 25th time in the history of the Nebraska-Creighton rivalry, the two programs will face off on a Saturday.

The Bluejays unveiled their non-conference slate on Tuesday, revealing the date of their matchup with the Huskers as Dec. 5 in Omaha. The last time the two teams played on a Saturday was in 2019.

Game time and television information will be released at a later time.

Creighton leads the all-time series 30-29. Nebraska, however, has been charging of late, winning three of the last four meetings.

Should Nebraska win, the series will be tied for the first time since it was 25-25 after Creighton ripped a sixth straight win in the rivalry in 2016-17.

On Saturdays, Nebraska is 15-9 all-time against Creighton. When the game is in Omaha, the series is 7-6 in CU's favor.

Below is a list of how often Nebraska and Creighton have met on each day of the week, with the series record in parentheses.

Despite Saturday being the most-played day of the week for the series, this year will mark just the fourth time in 18 meetings that the two teams will play on one. Since 2009, other than a three-year stretch from 2017 to 2019, the games have bounced around to other days, primarily Sundays.

Of the 31 meetings in Omaha, Creighton holds a 19-12 edge. Nebraska has won the last two meetings in the state's largest city. 

Fred Hoiberg is 3-4 against Creighton as the head coach at Nebraska. Including his time as a player and a coach at Iowa State, he is 8-4 against the Bluejays.

As a player and assistant, new Creighton head coach Alan Huss is 7-4 against Nebraska.

Hoiberg failed to grab a victory over the in-state rivals in his first three attempts, but has since had Creighton's number. This includes last season's 71-50 shellacking in Lincoln.

Only one starter is back from that team, which made a run to the Sweet 16. Pryce Sandfort, who had a second-round grade for the NBA Draft, elected to return to Nebraska for another season. The sharpshooter averaged 18.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 42% on three-pointers. He was named to the All-Big Ten first team by the league's coaches.

Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year Braden Frager is also back. He averaged 11.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. In the NCAA Tournament, his average jumped to 14.7 points. He made five three-pointers in the Sweet 16 loss to Iowa.

Other contributors coming back include Cale Jacobson, Leo Curtis, and Connor Essegian.

Hoiberg has added a pair of high school signees in four-star forwards Jacob Lanier and Colin Rice. Both should push for playing time, especially under the new five-for-five eligibility structure. Transfers Trevan Leonhardt (Utah Valley), Sam Orme (Belmont), and Boden Kapke (Boston College) are expected to be starters, with Kadyn Betts (Montana), Taj DeGourville (San Diego State), and Damon Wilkinson (South Dakota State) also making their way to Lincoln.

For the first time since the 1993-94 season, someone other than Dana Altman or Greg McDermott will be leading Creighton basketball.

Altman just went 12-20 in year 16 at Oregon. McDermott retired after a 16-18 campaign that ended for CU in the semifinals of the College Basketball Crown.

Huss takes over a program that he is extremely familiar with. He played for the Bluejays from 1997 to 2001 and returned to the program as an assistant from 2017 to 2023. After two seasons leading High Point, he returned to Omaha as associate head coach last year.

While Huss was an assistant in his first go-around at Creighton, the Bluejays averaged 22.3 wins a season, going 134-68. The team made a trio of NCAA Tournaments, peaking with the 2021 Sweet 16 run.

At High Point, Huss went 27-9 to finish runner-up at the College Basketball Invitational in 2024. His 2024-25 team went 29-6, sweeping the Big South regular season and tournament titles on its way to an NCAA Tournament berth.
