Nebraska hurlers Ty Horn and Carson Jasa secured third-round selections on opening day of the MLB Draft, bolstering the Will Bolt era’s reputation for developing elite pitching talent for the big leagues.
Through four rounds of the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft, a pair of Husker pitchers are off the board.
Both Ty Horn and Carson Jasa were selected in the third round on Saturday evening. Day 1 features rounds one through four, while Day 2 will see rounds five through 20.
Horn to the Reds

He became the eighth third-round selection in program history and the fifth Husker to ever be drafted by the Reds.
The slot value for that pick is $833,800.
Horn moved back and forth between the bullpen and starter roles. He went 3-3 with a 4.03 ERA and one save over 22 appearances, making 12 starts this past spring. He finished second on the team with 87 strikeouts in 82.2 innings of work.
In the Lincoln Regional, which Nebraska was hosting for the first time since 2008, Horn kept the Big Red in the game against No. 18 Ole Miss with a career-high nine strikeouts.
Jasa to the Cubs

He became the ninth third-round selection in program history and the eighth Husker to ever be drafted by the Cubs.
The slot value for that pick is $800,000.
The sixth All-American under Bolt, Jasa was Nebraska's ace in 2026. He finished the spring with a 10-2 record, becoming just the 13th player in program history to notch double-digit wins in a season. The last Husker to do so was Johnny Dorn in 2007.
Jasa racked up 117 strikeouts over 87.2 innings, posting a 3.59 ERA. The 117 punchouts are the fifth most by a Husker pitcher in a season in program history.
With Jasa earning first-team All-Big Ten honors, Bolt has had three such pitchers since 2021.
Husker Pitching Pipeline
The Will Bolt era has seen Nebraska pitchers become a regular at the MLB Draft.
There have been eight Husker hurlers taken in the first 10 rounds of the draft, with Horn and Jasa becoming the latest two to do so. The others are Spencer Schwellenbach (2nd, 2021), Cade Povich (3rd, 2021), Emmett Olson (4th, 2023), Jace Kaminska (10th, 2023), Brett Sears (7th, 2024), and Mason McConnaughey (4th, 2025).
Of the previous eight NU pitchers to go in the first 10 rounds of the draft, only Schwellenbach and Povich have made it to the big leagues. The former teammates dueled in a June 2024 meeting between the Orioles and Braves, with neither pitcher factoring in the decision.
Bolt took over his alma mater in 2020. There have now been 13 Bolt-era Huskers drafted.
