College Football is getting the fantasy football treatment.

Yahoo Sports has unveiled its new offering, which matches what the likes of ESPN and others do for the NFL.

For the uninitiated, fantasy football involves the accumulation of stats for points. Points are scored by players at the offensive positions of quarterback, wide receiver, running back, tight end, flex (a WR, RB, or TE), and team defense. Newly added for the college game is the position of team offense.

Here are some of the typical scoring:

Kickers are not included, but their contributions are added to the team offense position.

For the initiated, PPR (Points Per Reception) settings can be edited. The default is 0.5.

For Yahoo's initial season of this format, the available teams are just those from the top four conferences* in the nation—Big Ten, SEC, ACC, and Big 12. That means Nebraska is included among the 68 eligible programs.

*Yes, Notre Dame makes the cut too.

Here is how the preseason rankings stack up for Nebraska football's top players.

True freshman Jamal Rule enters the fall with a major opportunity afforded to few freshmen. Yahoo agrees with much of the local sentiment after the spring, which looked at Rule as the heir apparent to All-American Emmett Johnson.

Yahoo projects Rule to rush 89.5 times for 456 yards and 3.6 touchdowns. In the receiving game, he's projected to catch the ball 15.0 times for 128 yards and 0.7 scores.

Mekhi Nelson's future is cloudy at this point in the summer. The sophomore was arrested last week and accused of battering a pregnant woman during a Florida vacation.

Yahoo still has him listed as being on the field this fall. He's projected to carry the ball 52.1 times for 261 yards and 2.2 touchdowns, adding 9.7 receptions for 79.6 yards and 0.4 touchdowns.

Should Nelson not find his way to the field, Rule's lead-back production might not shift much. Instead, Kwinten Ives and Isaiah Mozee—both projected outside of the top 1,500—should receive significant bumps in usage.

Nyziah Hunter is projected to lead the Husker receivers with 47.8 catches for 676 yards and 5.4 touchdowns. Those are the top numbers in each category for the Big Red.

In 2025, Hunter had 43 receptions for 617 yards and five scores. Yahoo expects his production to stay very close in 2026.

Transfer quarterback Anthony Colandrea is projected to throw the ball for 2,683 yards and 19.6 touchdowns, with 8.3 interceptions. On the ground, he's projected to rush 110 times for 405 yards and another 5.5 scores.

Last season at UNLV, while earning Mountain West Player of the Year, Colandrea threw for 3,459 yards with 23 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He added 127 rushing attempts for 649 yards, scoring 10 times.

Jacory Barney Jr. is projected to catch the ball 42.7 times for 475 yards and 4.0 touchdowns.

In 2025, Barney had 45 receptions for 484 yards and five touchdowns. Just like Hunter, Yahoo's projections are close to Barney's totals from a year ago.

Luke Lindenmeyer is projected to catch the ball 29.3 times for 321 yards and 2.1 touchdowns.

In 2025, Lindenmeyer led the tight end room with 29 receptions for 312 yards and two touchdowns. Yahoo's projection is almost identical to what Lindenmeyer put up last year.

Transfer wideout Kwazi Gilmer is projected to make 33.7 receptions for 427 yards and 3.9 touchdowns.

In 2025 at UCLA, Gilmer led the Bruins in receiving yards (535), receptions (50), and receiving touchdowns (4). Yahoo projects Gilmer to take a step back in production, but be part of a more explosive offense overall.
