The four-star signal caller chose the Fighting Irish over several Power Four programs and will look to compete in 2027.
With a top 3 pick in the 2026 NFL draft, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are strengthening a strong pipeline that is paying off on the recruiting trail. Four-star commit Wonderful Monds IV committed to the Fighting Irish for the 2027 class, choosing the program over the Florida State Seminoles and Ohio State Buckeyes. He is rated as ESPN’s No. 14 pocket passer in his class. Monds was originally a 2028 prospect, but he reclassified and kicked up a recruiting frenzy between the programs coveting his talent. Notre Dame finally sealed the deal on his visit over the April 18 weekend.
Monds credits head coach Marcus Freeman, offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock and quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli for convincing him of his fit in the offense and likely saw that for himself when attending one of their final spring practices. The team played hardball, having him watch current starter CJ Carr while bringing in former quarterbacks Riley Leonard and Sam Hartman to meet with the prospect. Per ESPN, they also went over film of quarterbacks with similar play styles, selling the signal caller in his development under Denbrock and Guidugli.

Notre Dame is strengthening their future at QB, adding 2026 commits Teddy Jarrard and Noah Grubbs. They’ll now wrap up their 2027 search and move on to the 2028 prospects. Carr, the current signal caller, is eligible for the draft after next season, and there could be a brewing quarterback competition that Monds will find himself right in the middle of once he arrives on campus in 2027.
