The 2026 NFL Combine kicks off on Monday in Indianapolis as the top college football prospects look to showcase their skills to the decision-makers across the league. The top programs in the SEC, Big Ten, ACC, and Big 12 all headline the list of players. The Texas A&M Aggies lead the way with 13 invitees, followed by the Alabama Crimson Tide’s 12, Ohio State Buckeyes and LSU Tigers’ 11 each, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Miami all with 10, and so on. Independent Notre Dame Fighting Irish isn’t sending as many, with six players looking to head to the NFL Combine. However, one of those attendees is the consensus No. 1 running back to be taken off the board, star Jeremiyah Love.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that Love intends to participate in the 40-yard dash and do positional drills at the several day event at Lucas Oil Stadium. Many players will head to the Combine for media day and to meet with teams but decline to compete in the drills – with that trend seeming to grow with top stars by the year. So, it’s refreshing to see a top overall prospect, let alone the best at his position, head to Indianapolis and look to compete with a top 40-yard time.
Here is the full story from Irish Breakdown Roundtable writer Trevor Trowbridge on the electric back’s draft profile.
The explosive Love had a career 2,882 rushing yards, 594 receiving yards, 36 rushing touchdowns, and six receiving touchdowns for the Fighting Irish. The 6-foot, 214-pound back has been projected to go off the board anywhere from the Top 10 to the Top 20, and his production speaks as to why. He’ll have a major opportunity to highlight his football IQ and personal traits during the valuable media interview time.
