Unfortunately for North Carolina football, some things continue to take away from the fact that the program looks a bit better on the field than it did a year ago. As we look at what North Carolina has dealt with recently, it's unfortunate that this program keeps going through things it really doesn't need to. North Carolina is expected to go out and play football, but instead, things happen on and off the field.

A lot of that is Bill Belichick's fault at the end of the day.

He decides who to hire, which players to bring in, and other factors.

He hasn't made all of the right ones on and off the field, and that's been rather evident over the past two years now. However, it sounds like he's not going to keep beating around the bush about those issues. Belichick has decided to move on from multiple staff members, with those decisions needing to be made.

Speaking to reporters, he added that North Carolina has a standard it has to uphold, and that certain people within the organization weren't meeting it.

“Understand the importance of the work that’s being done by the investigative team and, obviously, our high standard here, our code of conduct, doing things the right way and making sure that our student-athletes are given the utmost, best treatment, the very best care and very best coaching that we can possibly give them,” Belichick said, per Rodd Baxley.

“That’s critically important to us.”

It's important that he's coming out and saying that his focus is on ensuring that the players are in a good spot on and off the field. At the end of the day, these are still college kids.

As much as they might be getting paid, as questionable as some of their decisions are, and for other reasons, they are still kids. But I hope fans realize that too. Not just at North Carolina, but for every program.
