Could the North Carolina Tar Heels and head coach Bill Belichick land a massive quarterback commit in the 2027 recruiting class?
The North Carolina Tar Heels and head coach Bill Belichick, after a disappointing 2025 college football season, will look to have a massive rebound during the upcoming season.
While the legendary coach continues to build the foundations of the program, his efforts in the 2026 recruiting cycle were a promising sign for the fanbase, as the Tar Heels finished with the 17th-best class, according to 247Sports. This included a total of nine four-star commits, such as cornerback Kenton Dopson III and wide receiver C.J. Sadler.
Now, Belichick and company are slowly building off the most recent success on the recruitment trail when looking ahead at the 2027 class. And for North Carolina fans, there is one name that the coaching staff is targeting that could be a perfect addition: four-star quarterback Blake Roskopf.
Roskopf’s Recruitment Journey

The 6-foot-5, 235 lbs. quarterback is the No. 3-ranked prospect in the state of Arizona, as well as the No. 12 quarterback in the current recruiting cycle, per 247Sports’ Composite.
Over the last two seasons at Desert Edge High School, Roskopf has put up strong numbers. In 2024, the young playmaker notched 2,203 passing yards and 19 touchdowns, along with 109 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Roskopf would then follow up his stout sophomore season with even better numbers in 2025, finishing the year with 2,815 passing yards and 37 touchdowns to eight interceptions.
With his impressive frame for a high school prospect and the traits he possesses, it’s clear that Roskopf’s game could eventually translate to the college level with proper development. Luckily for the fanbase, Belichick and the Tar Heels remain a key program in his recruitment journey, as Roskopf is set to take an official visit to Chapel Hill on Jun 19.
Looking at the rest of North Carolina’s 2027 recruiting class, the group features three commits. This includes four-star athlete Marquis Bryant and a pair of three-star commits in safety Charles Roberts and athlete Skylar Robinson.
Landing a highly-touted quarterback in Roskopf would be an excellent prospect for the future of the Tar Heels’ upcoming class.
